Title K-12 Math Coordinator
Description
Primary Purpose:
The Math Coordinator will provide professional leadership in the development, implementation, and oversight of the district’s Math program. The Math Coordinator serves as a resource for both curriculum and instruction and ensures effective instruction is implemented in all math classrooms to meet the needs of all students. This position will provide support and guidance to all instructors of Math as well as collaborate and coordinate site and district professional development based on goals outlined in the District Improvement Plan.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification
- Master’s Degree in education or a related field required
- Valid South Carolina teaching certificate with appropriate endorsements required

- Deep content knowledge in Mathematics
- Curriculum development and alignment to SC Standards
- Data analysis and integration
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Effective coaching, problem-solving and conferencing skills
- Demonstrated commitment to professional growth and learning
- Demonstrated use of best teaching practices
- Understanding of and ability to research to support teacher development
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of teaching experience required
- Elementary and Secondary teaching or leadership experience required
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with teaching staff by creating a professional and collaborative environment that includes mutual respect, teamwork, and accountability
- Provide effective leadership in developing, implementing, and evaluating curriculum and instruction to meet instructional goals and objectives
- Develop, and organize assessment tools and data for continuous improvement.
- Provide, facilitate, and model professional development using evidence-based strategies and interventions
- Create/Analyze formative assessments and diagnostic data to create instructional plans
- Support teachers to collect and analyze data to inform instructional decisions
- Provide job-embedded feedback for Math teachers as they reflect on, set goals for, practice, and refine skills
- Participate in the planning and organization of district professional development.
- Lead, organize, and/or facilitate professional learning communities for Math instructional coaches and/or teachers
- Prepare and submit reports to district stakeholders.
- Engage in continuous professional learning on research-supported coaching and instructional practices to remain knowledgeable and to grow content and instructional capacity
- Coordinate/Collaborate with math consultants
- Lead and support professional development sessions during the summer and weekend workshops throughout the school year.
- Support and assist with the development of district curriculum guides and pacing maps.
- Implement horizontal and vertical alignment of the Math curriculum.
- Coordinate professional developments for high-quality instructional practices including integration of technology in Math.
- Perform other related duties as assigned
