TITLE: SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST II
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The School Psychologist works within an assigned Elementary, Middle, and/or High School building, and provides a variety of services, including special education evaluations, social skills and behavioral training and supports with students, counseling services, parent and teacher consultations, response to intervention implementation, and data analysis. The School Psychologist is directly responsible for the psychological assessment of academic, social, emotional, and behavioral domains utilizing problem-solving and standardized evaluations. The School Psychologist participates in Individual Education Plan (IEP) conferences and problem-solving meetings to design tiered systems of supports that maximize students’ social, emotional, and educational success.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Incumbent must be fingerprinted and clear a criminal backgrounds check.
- Valid South Carolina Teaching Certificate, School Psychology
- This position requires a Master’s Degree in School Psychology.
- Interns must be enrolled in an accredited masters level university program in the field of school psychology, and meet all requirements to fulfill an internship role. Terms of employment for interns are for one year only.
REPORT TO: Executive Director of Special Services
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Conduct psychological assessments and interpret results for students and participate in IEP conferences, team meetings, and problem-solving meetings.
- Provide direct intervention services to students (individually and/or group), as appropriate.
- Provide insight into the development of functional behavioral assessments and behavior intervention plans.
- Integrate psychological services into the classroom environment as appropriate.
- Provide assistance to staff in the design and implementation of appropriate interventions and accommodations for students.
- Assist with the school’s 504 Accommodation team.
- Contribute to program development that furthers the integration of social, coping, and problem solving in the classroom.
- Provide support services to parents/guardians as needed.
- Coordinate and/or collaborate with a range of individuals/agencies to promote and provide comprehensive services to students and families.
- Provide and/or assist in professional development for staff, parents, and/or community.
- Participate in professional growth activities on a yearly basis.
- Proficiently use technology to communicate, compile reports, and collect data.
- Participate in building or program activities and meetings as appropriate.
- Assume other duties and special projects as assigned.
