JOB DESCRIPTION: Speech Language Pathologist/Therapist (SLP/T) POSITION DESCRIPTION: Under general supervision, the SLP/T will work in cooperation with district staff, parents and students to serve as the specialist responsible for diagnostic and intervention services for students with speech-language disorders that interfere with academic and functional skills. Days of Work: 190 QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Master’s Degree or higher in speech pathology.
  • Must have or be eligible for South Carolina Teachers Certification.
  • Licensed through Labor Licensing Regulation Board of SC in speech pathology.
  • Will consider a bachelor's degree level in speech pathology. REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Special Services and Therapy Services Facilitator ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (includes but not limited to):
  • Provides appropriate diagnostic services and placement for students with speech-language disorders in full compliance with district, state, and federal regulations.
  • Maintains accurate records of therapy logs and student progress, and reports that progress to parents in accordance to due process guidelines.
  • Consults and collaborates with principals, clinicians, teachers, parents, and other agencies, to best meet the needs of all students.
  • Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students with Speech/Language impairment and assists with IEPs for students with speech/language as a service on an annual basis or according to requirements.
  • Correctly follows all federal, state, and local due process procedures regarding identification, placement, and treatment of students with speech-language disorders. Holds IEP conferences according to due process guidelines to determine appropriate placement, annual IEP goals, re-evaluations, and the discontinuation of therapy.
  • Provide direct and consultative therapeutic services related to expressive, receptive, and pragmatic language.
  • Completes records for third party reimbursement accurately and in a timely fashion. Correctly completes and submits all forms as required under Medicaid and District guidelines.
  • Attends conferences/in-services to remain current on speech-language issues, evidence-based practice and federal and state due process guidelines to maintain and improve professional competency.
  • Operates various types of machinery and equipment including a computer, printer, typewriter, calculator, copier, telephone, audiometer, hearing aids, scopes, augmentative devices, amplification devices, various other communication aids, etc.
  • Willingly performs other duties as assigned or requested.
