Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Must have knowledge of and be physically able to operate power-cleaning machines.
- Demonstrate aptitude for successful fulfillment of assigned performance responsibilities.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the principal may find appropriate and acceptable

Job Purpose: To provide students with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean and
efficient place in which to learn and develop by: being able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Essential Job Results
- Maintains an aesthetically attractive physical environment
- Keeping the grounds free from rubbish; sweeping sidewalks and other areas in and around building and premises as needed; keeping all floors attractive and clean, and in a good state of preservation; dusting furniture daily; moving furniture and/or equipment within building as required for various activities as directed by the principal.
- Maintains a clean and neat environment
- Cleaning classrooms and corridors after school each day and during the day when condition requires it; scrubbing, hosing down/mopping, and disinfecting toilet floors daily, and cleaning all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains daily; washing all windows inside and outside at least twice a year, and more frequently if necessary; keeping an inventory of supplies, equipment and fuel on hand, and requisition such needed replacements from the principal far enough in advance so that they may be delivered in such time as will not hinder the custodians in their duties.
- Maintains a safe and secure environment
- Making minor building repairs as is capable; insure that all exit doors are open and all panic bolts are working properly during the hours of building occupancy; reporting major repairs needs; maintaining, all motors and other mechanical equipment; reporting to the principal any damages to school property; conducting ongoing program of general maintenance, upkeep and repairs; being responsible for the opening and closing of the building each school day, etc.; being responsible for proper and economical usage of lights and thermostats including safety tests; remaining on the school premises during school hours and when otherwise required by the principal; complying with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish and waste.

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluations of classified personnel.
